We invite you to join us in an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality computer science (CS) educational opportunities for our California students.

K-5 Educators: There are regional workshops especially for you this summer. Due to capacity constraints, participants are allowed to choose only one 2025 summer workshop when they enroll.  

6-12 Educators: There is a state-wide offering especially for you this summer being held in Anaheim, CA, June 23-27, 2025. Due to capacity constraints, participants are allowed to choose only one 2025 summer workshop when they enroll.  Scroll down to view workshop descriptions and to register.

CSPDWeek: June 23-27, 2025 | Anaheim, CA

The Summer of CS is a research-backed professional learning program for teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and counselors working in California public schools.  Regional and statewide multi-day workshops will be offered this summer to help you and other educators from across California deliver equity-minded CS instruction. Participants will be given tools and a network of support for fostering the next generation of critical thinkers and problem solvers in our increasingly digitized world. 

CSPDWeek is a state-wide summer offering especially for Grade 6-12 educators. There is a 30-hour time commitment necessary to fulfill full and active participation in this learning opportunity. Participants will have access to:

📌 Important!  All CSPDWeek registrants must attend our virtual Summer of CS Kick-off webinar hosted on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 - 5:30 PM. Asynchronous work will be assigned by your workshop facilitator during this event to help you prepare for your CSPDWeek workshop. All Grade 6-12 registrants planning to attend CSPDWeek are required to attend this one-and-a-half-hour event as they prepare for their 2025 summer workshop since it is part of the 30-hour time commitment necessary to fulfill full and active participation in their summer workshop. This Kick-off event will be recorded and registrants who are unable to attend synchronously may watch the recording and reach out to receive their assignment. Registration information for the Kick-off webinar will be sent to all CSPDWeek registrants via email later in the spring.

📌 Eligibility Requirement Information!  Due to restrictions in the Educator Workforce Investment Grant (EWIG) in Computer Science, funding is limited to public K-12 school educators. As a result, private and independent school educators, expanded learning educators, pre-service teachers, and substitute teachers are not eligible for Summer of CS participation or a stipend. This includes the CSPDWeek workshops being offered in Anaheim, June 23-27, 2025. These eligibility requirements align with Assembly Bill 185, which prioritizes professional learning for teachers and paraprofessionals in public schools.

Commitment: 30 hours of ongoing professional learning including the 5-day CSPDWeek workshop of your choice happening June 23-27, 2025. Learn more

Date: June 23-27, 2025 in Anaheim, CA

Food & Beverage: The Opening Ceremony and Lunch will begin on Monday, June 23rd with workshops starting after lunch. Breakfast will be provided on June 24th through June 27th, and lunch will be provided on each event day for all registered attendees. Dinner will not be provided.

Location: Anaheim Marriott Hotel, 700 West Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802

Lodging: Anaheim Marriott Hotel accommodation will be provided for all registered participants. Once you have a fully signed Participation Agreement and your workshop registration is confirmed, you will receive an email asking you to book your hotel room.

Parking:  Self-parking for one vehicle at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel can be applied to your room charges and parking will be paid for directly by CDE Foundation.

Registration Requirement: Due to capacity constraints, you are able to choose only one summer workshop when you enroll for a workshop. You and your supervisor must sign the Participation Agreement before your registration is fully confirmed. No prior knowledge in Computer Science is necessary to participate. 

Registration Badge Pickup: The registration desk will open on Monday, June 23rd at 8:00 AM. You can pick up your name tag anytime before 11:30 AM by visiting the registration desk in the Anaheim Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom foyer.

Stipend: You must have a fully signed Participation Agreement before you can be eligible for a $250 daily stipend for 5 days of CSPDWeek workshop participation. CSPDWeek attendees in Anaheim will also be compensated for the completion of the additional 3 hours of pre-CSPDWeek activities since it is part of the 30-hour time commitment necessary to fulfill full and active participation in their summer workshop. These pre-CSPDWeek activities include:

Travel: Travel Reimbursement for Mileage and Economy Airfare will be offered for this statewide offering. You must have a fully signed Participation Agreement before you can be eligible for a reimbursement payment. 

Webinar: Summer of CS Kick-off: All CSPDWeek registrants must attend our virtual Summer of CS Kick-off webinar hosted on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM! It is intended that Administrators and Counselors will support the implementation of CS Education at your school as well as prioritize the CS Implementation of instruction to a diverse group of students in the 2025-2026 school year while prioritizing and adapting this instruction for students who are historically underrepresented in the field of CS. 📌 Important! The policies and procedures for Summer Regional workshops are different from CSPDWeek workshops. Depending on whether you are a K-5 educator who participates in a Regional workshop during the 2025 Summer of CS or you are a 6-12 educator who participates in a statewide CSPDWeek workshop in Anaheim the week of June 23-27, 2025, please refer to the appropriate policy and procedure.
